Flower + Plant Care

Flower Care

Follow these Flower Care tips for your newly freshly delivered floral arrangement for long-lasting results!

Caring for Flowers Purchased in a Vase or Other Container

  • Flowers love a cooler climate - display your blooms in a cooler temperature area of your space!

  • Keep fresh flowers away from drafts and extreme temperatures, which can quickly dry out the flowers causing wilting.

  • Do not place your arrangement near fruit or in the path of cigarette smoke as it releases ethylene gas which can cause flowers to wilt.

  • Placing flower arrangements on windowsills and other areas with full sun is not recommended and may cause wilting.

  • Keep your vase filled with water! All flower/ foliage stems should be submerged this way they will last longer.

  • If your flowers came in a basket or other container with foam, add fresh water every day.

  • Immediately remove dead or wilting leaves and stems from fresh flower arrangements.

  • Refill water as it gets muddy or cloudy.

Caring for a Fresh Bouquet

  • After carefully unwrapping your bouquet, clean your specific vase thoroughly with soapy water to remove any bacteria that could cause the fresh flowers to wilt.

  • For best results, cut stems with a sharp knife or other sharp cutting tool at an angle about one to two inches from the bottom. This allows them to better absorb water. Do not use scissors to cut your flowers because they can crush the stems and prevent water absorption.

  • Place loose stems or wrapped bouquets of fresh flowers in your water mixture as soon as possible.

Plant Care

Here are some simple tips to ensure your new green friend thrives. It is important to note that all plants are different and may have special care instructions. Contact the shop for specific instructions if your plant is not doing well.

  • Check your plant’s light preferences. Most plants enjoy bright, indirect light, but some may prefer shade or direct sunlight.

  • Keep the soil consistently moist but avoid overwatering. Let the top layer of soil dry before watering again, unless your plant prefers damp conditions.

  • Maintain a warm environment and ensure humidity levels match the plant’s needs. Tropical plants often love higher humidity.

  • If needed, use a balanced, appropriate fertilizer every few weeks during the growing season to give your plant essential nutrients.

  • When roots outgrow the pot, repot with fresh soil in a container one size larger to allow healthy growth.

  • Trim dead or yellowing leaves to encourage new growth and keep your plant looking fresh.

  • Inspect your plant regularly for pests, and use gentle treatments as needed to keep them healthy.
